I'm reading my emails today and I have one that's
asking me for correspondences so that a spell can be cast. OKAY let's get something straight, I may not believe in all the
pomp that alot of others that practice magick might. I don't need all the special tools and blah, blah if you need to hear
more check out my vent Non-Wiccan Webweaver at Work.
However I am not here to be your personal grimore.
I really think it's a beautiful thing that so many people are turning to different Pagan paths for their spiritual fulfillment.
I love that we are moving up on the scorecard and by leaps and bounds at that.
But along with that popularity is an onslaught
of ridiculous books, websites and new age shops that feel the need to overcharge every poor sucker that walks through the
door.
I find this all completely UN-PAGAN.
But what gets to me the most what I think is
WORST of all, is the amount of people that are just deciding overnight that since life ain't going exactly as they would like,
that they'll turn into a witch overnight and *poof* fix it all themselves.
NAH!
It don't work like that.
To be a witch, to practice magick with an sort of power you must
first turn yourself into a sponge (DO NOT EMAIL ME AND ASK ME FOR A SPONGE SPELL PLEASE).
YOU have to LEARN. Soak it all up....and write it down, why do
you think witches have grimores and BOS'....cause we like lugging around 50 pound books?
NAH!
Cause we will never remember all their is, we already have so
much crammed into our minds. Moon phases, Goddess and their attributes, color, oil and incense correspondence...and the perfect
chant to get that nosey neighbor to back off. We can't remember everything, but when people start asking me what color candle
to use for a love spell, it FREAKS ME OUT!
You know what, if you need to ask a question like that, then you
REALLY need to pick up a book, or check a website (this one is great!) and research, because obviously it's not the magick
that you are holding sacred, but rather the idea of what you believe you want is what has become most important.
That disgusts me. And I will clearly state again MAGICK IS SACRED
AND IT WILL TURN AROUND AND KICK YOUR ASS IF YOU DON'T TREAT IT AS SUCH.
I often wonder the effect of all this on the rest of the
energy out there. What happens to this chaotic, rushed, energy that nitwits are working up because they've been a witch for
2 1/2 hours and they have mastered it?
I know that some structured paths have a learning phase, prior
to dedication, prior to acceptance, prior to MAGICK. There is a reason for this. At the same time I think alot of people turn
to a Pagan path with the illusion that they can start practicing magick right from the gecko and in a week or a months time
it will all be better thanks to their powerful spellcastings.
NAH!
It don't work like that.
AND I am a firm believer in practice makes perfect. You cannot
master something unless you study it from all angles, unless you not only know, but you understand the foundations upon which
it's built. How could you possibly cast the best candle spells in your coven by just reading about them, of course you would
have to practice, but BABY STEPS PUUUUULLLLLLEASE!
The baby steps is where you are building your foundation, without
a good foundation you'll crumble. You'll downright SUCK. Yeah I said it, it's my vent and I can say what I want.
I don't mind helping, I love to help. BUT you should not
be casting a love spell if you don't even know the proper candle color that would correspond to it.
THAT MAGICK WILL COME BACK AND KICK YOUR ASS!
So to save yourself from a good butt whippin, learn a little first,
take some baby steps first, and I promise you will see a difference. Nurture your spirit and your mind, connect, and most
importantly learn. A witch that stops learning goes stale. She/he has lost their spark, someone wished to practice magick
needs to find that spark in their spirit, feed it, and keep it burning in their heart til the day they die.
