Correspondences - Knowing and Working Them

I'm sharing this little tidbit, because obviously there are alot of you out there that are not "savy" to what we witches normally consider common knowledge and that is correspondences.

Correspondences are different times/phases/days/moments/minutes/seconds/etc that correlate to the magick you are casting.

Each correspondence you attune your magick to, the more "in tune" w/ the universe the magick becomes, hence adding the "bam" to your castings.

Their are many correspondences you can work with. Moon phases being most popular, but you can also use Sun phases. The Sun travels through the same phases that the Moon does, only the Sun does in a day what the Moon does in 28 days.

Astrological Signs and what sign the Moon and Sun are in are another correspondence you can take into account.

Many paths have their own calendar, with certain months being set aside for certain types of magick, much like the Wheel of the Year. You want to start casting the "seeds" for your magick in early Spring to bring it to "fruitation" during the harvest months.

There are also Daily Correspondences know as the "Stations of the Day" and why, yes! There are hourly correspondences too.

In magickal workings almost everything involved in the spell, weaving, whatever you want to call it should be in some sort of correspondence. From the colors of the candles, herbs, incense, oils...etc. You probably wouldn't pick a Goddess of War or Destruction for your love spell now would you?

Now of course a newcomer can't remember all this! There is an unending flow of information and it is impossible to absorb it all. That's why you either get a really good reference book, or make your own grimore and save them. Most witches specialize in certain types of magick and will lean towards certain corresponding items more than others, hence the reason that most witches will have a personal grimore.

YOU don't have to become a walking encylopedia on the craft. BUT when the urge strikes to cast at 2 am on a Sunday night be sure you are armed well and prepared with you grimore of correspondences...and that the Moon is not void of course ;)
