One of my favorite forms of divination is the Tarot. A deck consists of 78 cards, of these being the Major Arcana or "Trump" cards. The rest of the cards are broken down into 4 suits, 14 in each, and these 4 suits together are known as the Minor Arcana or "Pip" cards.

The Tarot can easy being tied into your spellcraftings and magickal workings in numerous ways.
You can place a tarot card on your altar to draw something into your life.
You can use them in spell weavings to represent specific people or even unspecified people.
Use them for focus. They are a great tool for focus, whether you are reading them or working them into your magick.

I do not suggest just picking up a deck and casting without any knowledge of the cards, but I do think they are an excellent form of focus for those new to casting.
Each one holds such signifigant, in depth meaning to it. With the wonderful internet there are tons of resources to help you learn along your journey.

There is a fantastic site on the web, which doesn't get nearly as much publicity as it should. For the beginner to the advanced reader it features everything and anything you would like to know about Tarot (except spells), including the many different decks (and they just keep coming!).

The site featured reviews with pictures of the decks, a learning section, a forum and much more. A must visit for anyone even remotely interested in Tarot:

The Suits and Magick:

The Wands
In the majority of decks the suit of wands represents the element of fire, although some decks have it as air.
Personally they are always fire to me, I use them in passion spells, creativity spells, career spells, and pursuit spells. When it's a buring passion, no matter what kind of burning passion, choose the wands ;)

The Cups
The suit of cups represents the element of....water, wow what a surprise. Water rules over emotions so use the cups for love spells, vision spells, spells that boost the intuition, meditations, etc. Also good for the spells that break negative emotions, or habits/addictions.

The Swords
The suit of swords represents the element of air, although in some decks it represents fire.
Use sword cards when casting for protection, or clarity spells, good for meditation or when you need to make a choice as swords "clear the air".  Air carries messages well use when trying to connect with someone.

The Pentacles
The suit of pentacles represents the element of earth. Use it to solidify spells, giving it roots, of course prosperity and money spells,  healing spells, job spells and also when you need a pinch of luck.

Breaking the suits down even further:

When casting for someone specific use the following as a guideline:

Pages represent young children and teens
Knights represent both males and females 20 through 35
Queens for females over 35
Kings for males over 35

To become even more specific, if you know the person use their corresponding astrological sign as well.
I.E. a 40 year old male Leo would be the King of wands.

The Trumps, or Major Arcana:

The Trumps can be most helpful with the actual "goal" of the spell. Each one has great representation.
I always pull the Strength card for castings, who doesn't want to add some strength to their spell?
Pull the High Priestess for spells regarding intuition. The Empress for pregnancy spells, the list goes on and on.

The Trumps can also represent specific people in your life, once you begin to learn their meanings this become easily clear.
